Evaluation is an important mechanism for accountability, helping ensure investments are being used as intended and gauging meaningful progress on shared goals. Skilled evaluators with lived experience in our community are positioned to provide evaluations that are culturally informed and responsive to community needs. Our community does not have enough local evaluators to bid on RFPs for external evaluators or fill in-house positions. Additionally, the local evaluation community lacks coordination of collective knowledge and resources.

Our Mission

Our project exists to strengthen San Antonio’s evaluation ecosystem by creating collective knowledge and resources, fostering collaboration, and growing awareness of evaluation as a career field.

Our Vision

San Antonians are better positioned to lead evaluation of the activities happening in our community. San Antonio’s evaluation community regularly engages in meaningful cross-sector collaboration.

Project Overview

The project team is recruiting collaborators from multiple sectors: higher education, K-12 independent school districts, nonprofits, foundations, local government, for-profit evaluation companies, independent consultants. Our request to participants is to engage in 2-5 working group sessions during 2023 (depending upon level of involvement and available time), provide data, and share feedback on resources and materials produced by the core working team.

The three overarching phases of the project are:

Data Collection & Analysis

Resource & Material Creation

Dissemination & Future Planning

We are seeking collaborators and referrals to those who may be interested in participating. We are also seeking investment- approximately 55% of the project cost is being provided through contributed/matching funds. We are raising capacity building-related community funds for the other 45%.
